New DHS Rule Creates 24 Month OPT Extension for STEM Students
May 6, 2016
Good news for F-1 students in a STEM degree program! On March 11, 2016 DHS published the final rule allowing F-1 students who hold STEM degrees and meet other requirements to apply for a 24-month, rather than a 17-month extension of their post-completion OPT. You can begin applying for the 24-month extension on May 10, 2016. See this USCIS.gov link for more information.
